BuddyNow Community Guidelines
BuddyNow works best when people are clear, respectful, and honest about what they want to do in the next hour. These guidelines explain what belongs here and what does not.
The three lines you see in the app — Be kind · Show up on time · Stay safe IRL — are the core. The rest of this page is what those three lines mean in practice.
1. Keep Posts Real and Specific
Post only when you genuinely want to meet for an activity soon. A good post tells people what, where, and roughly what vibe to expect.
Good examples
- “Study at Central Library, quiet focus.”
- “Easy run from UTown, beginner pace.”
- “Dinner at Koufu, happy to chat.”
- “Gym for legs, no pressure.”
Not okay
- “DM me for crypto/internship/tuition offer.”
- “Looking for dates only.”
- “Come to my room, don't ask questions.”
- Anything threatening, sexual, discriminatory, illegal, or meant to embarrass someone.
2. Be Respectful
- Use normal, considerate language.
- Accept “no”, no reply, rejection, and withdrawal without pushing.
- Do not insult people based on school, nationality, race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion, language, appearance, or background.
- Do not pressure someone to share private information or move to another app.
3. Meet in Public
Choose public places such as campus spaces, libraries, food courts, sports areas, open study spaces, or well-lit meeting points. Avoid isolated locations, private rooms, or plans that make someone feel trapped.
4. No Commercial Solicitation
BuddyNow is not for selling, recruiting, lead generation, paid promotions, surveys, MLM schemes, giveaways, or organization spam. Clubs, societies, and organizations may not use BuddyNow as a broadcast tool unless BuddyNow later adds an official feature for that.
5. No Sexual Content or Underage Solicitation
Do not use BuddyNow for sexual requests, explicit content, fetish content, paid companionship, or romantic pressure. Do not seek contact with underage people. BuddyNow is for eligible users aged 18 or above.
6. No Impersonation
Do not pretend to be another person, a school office, a student club, a staff member, or BuddyNow. Do not use a nickname that makes other users think you have official authority.
7. Show Up or Communicate
If plans change, say so early. No-shows can happen, but repeated no-shows hurt trust and may affect your account. If someone does not show up, rate the outcome honestly and report if there is a safety concern.
8. Blocking and Reporting
Blocking is silent: the other person is not notified, and you become mutually invisible where the product supports it. Use block when you simply do not want further contact.
Use report when behavior needs review, such as harassment, inappropriate content, safety concerns, impersonation, spam, or repeated no-shows. We aim to review reports within 24 hours.
9. What Happens After a Report
BuddyNow may review relevant profile, post, match, message, rating, report, block, and operational records. Depending on severity, we may warn, limit, suspend, or terminate an account. Serious safety issues may be escalated where required by law.
10. When in Doubt
If a post or message would make a reasonable person feel unsafe, pressured, misled, or targeted, do not send it. Keep BuddyNow useful for simple, low-pressure activity meetups.
