BuddyNow Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of BuddyNow, also known as 搭搭. BuddyNow helps eligible users find another person for a low-pressure activity in the next hour.
Please use BuddyNow with real-life care. The app can help you find a buddy, but it cannot guarantee another person's identity, conduct, availability, or safety. Meet in public, trust your judgment, and report behavior that makes the community less safe.
1. Eligibility
You may use BuddyNow only if you:
- are at least 18 years old;
- sign in using either a supported school email address or Sign in with Apple;
- provide accurate profile information within the app's allowed fields;
- intend to use BuddyNow for genuine, low-pressure meetups, not spam, scraping, advertising, or impersonation; and
- can legally agree to these Terms under the laws that apply to you.
School-email users from supported university domains may receive a verified-school badge. Apple users are full BuddyNow users but do not receive a school verification badge unless BuddyNow later adds a separate verification path. We may expand, change, or limit supported sign-in methods and school verification domains as the product develops.
2. Your Account
You sign in with your school email and a one-time password, or with Sign in with Apple. Keep your email account, Apple account, and device secure. You are responsible for activity under your account unless the activity resulted from a security issue caused by BuddyNow.
You may not transfer, sell, share, or lend your account. Use a nickname that does not impersonate another person or mislead other users.
3. The BuddyNow Service
BuddyNow uses 1-hour live posts. A user posts an activity, another user applies, the poster may approve, a 1-on-1 chat opens, both users may meet, and both may rate the outcome. We may change, limit, pause, or discontinue features as the product develops.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, shame, discriminate against, or exploit another user;
- post sexual content, underage solicitation, or content that makes meetups unsafe;
- use BuddyNow for commercial solicitation, paid promotions, recruiting, surveys, spam, or mass messaging;
- post illegal activity, drugs, weapons, gambling, fraud, or instructions to evade campus rules;
- impersonate another person, school, club, or official campus body;
- scrape, reverse engineer, overload, probe, or interfere with BuddyNow systems;
- try to bypass sign-in requirements, school verification status, age limits, rate limits, blocks, suspensions, or safety controls; or
- share another user's private information without permission.
5. Meetups Are At Your Own Risk
BuddyNow is a coordination tool. We do not supervise meetups, perform background checks, verify real names, or control what users do offline. You are responsible for deciding whether, when, and where to meet another person.
For safer meetups, choose public places such as campus locations, libraries, food courts, open study areas, sports areas, or well-lit meeting points. Tell a friend where you are going, avoid sharing unnecessary personal information, and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
6. User Content
You keep ownership of content you submit, including posts, messages, ratings, reports, and feedback. You grant BuddyNow a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, process, display, and transmit your content only as needed to operate, protect, and improve BuddyNow.
For example, we may show your post to eligible nearby users, deliver your chat messages to your matched buddy, and review reports for safety. This license does not give us permission to publish your private chats or posts externally for marketing.
You are responsible for the content you submit and must have the right to submit it.
7. Reports, Blocks, and Safety Review
You can block or report users. Blocking is silent. Reports may be reviewed by BuddyNow for safety and Terms enforcement. We aim to review safety reports within 24 hours, but this is a target, not a guaranteed response time.
8. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate an account if we reasonably believe the user violated these Terms, created safety risk, abused the service, attempted to bypass controls, or exposed BuddyNow or other users to legal or security risk.
Where practical, we will review relevant reports or records before taking action. Serious safety, abuse, or legal issues may require immediate action.
9. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how you can request access, correction, withdrawal, or deletion.
10. Disclaimers
BuddyNow is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, perfect matching, message delivery, user conduct, meetup attendance, or any particular outcome.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, BuddyNow and its operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for offline conduct between users. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as BuddyNow changes. For material changes, we aim to give 30 days' notice by email or in-app notice before the changes take effect, unless a shorter period is needed for legal, safety, or security reasons. Continued use after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Singapore. You and BuddyNow submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Singapore courts for disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the service.
14. Contact
Questions about these Terms can be sent to [email protected].
